CHARLOTTE, NC (November 29, 2011) – The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Jim Gehring of the Augusta RiverHawks is the SBK Player of the Week for November 21-27.
Gehring scored nine points (five goals, four assists) and finished with a +7 rating as the RiverHawks went 3-0 for the week and maintained their hold on first place in the SPHL standings.
On Thursday, Gehring scored a goal and added two assists as the RiverHawks traveled to Fayetteville and came away with a 5-4 Thanksgiving Day win over the FireAntz. The RiverHawks returned home on Friday where Gehring assisted on two goals in Augusta’s 6-3 win over Pensacola. Gehring saved his best for last as he scored four goals, including a natural hat trick, in a 5-2 win over the Mississippi Surge.
A native of Chester Springs, PA, Gehring currently leads the SPHL in goals (14) and game-winning goals (3) and is third in points with 22.
